Jenny’s message to the team:
Hey Running Mates,
For those of you who did a Magic Mile last Saturday, be sure to plug your time into Galloway's Pace Calculator. This is a great tool to determine the proper training pace for you. Also, make a note of it in your training journal. It's fun to track your progress throughout the season!
ALUM ROCK PARK RUN THIS SATURDAY: This Saturday, July 26, we will be meeting near Alum Rock Park for a scenic trail run.
To carpool, -or- Meet at 7:00 a.m. at the end of Alum Rock Ave where it dead ends at Canon Vista Ave: Map
Please note, this is NOT the main Penitencia Creek entrance! Drive as far as you can on Alum Rock Avenue and look for parking where the road ends at the old entrance. We will meet there and run into the park. You will have the option to do an easy 4 mile out and back on a smooth wide dirt trail or a more challenging 6-7 mile run on a narrow switchback trail.
Sandi, one of our own Galloway SJ runners, will be hosting a post-run potluck breakfast at her home, a short walk from where we are meeting at the end of Alum Rock Ave. Please bring something to share (fruit, bagels, chocolate chip banana nut bread,...).
Be prepared to see deer, wild turkeys, rabbits, and plenty of squirrels and jays. This is one of my favorite trails in the area!
SAN FRANCISCO MARATHON NEWS: For the Spring Training Group, this will be our last run together before the big day! I will be sending a separate newsletter later today with all the details for the San Francisco Marathon.
See you soon, Jenny |
